In the dead of the night
When I was still a boy
Young and meek
Unfamiliar with myself
Before I’m about close my eyes
I catch a slight glimpse of something in the corner
It’s here a light, warm and bright appeared out of a dark
With it, what I can only describe as an angel appeared before me.
Her eyes emerald, her radiating copper, and her dress flowing like a calm current
Her beauty, greatest of all that I have ever seen before and after
Stunned, I laid still in the dead of the night
I cannot say if it was by choice or some force
And so suddenly she is upon me, on top of me
Her body, light the clouds, but warm as the summer sun
Her lips, so soft and ample meet mine and fire engulfs every ounce of blood in my being
Then tears rolled down my cheeks as my body ignites, I can barely breathe
Then nothingness set in
And before I could even come to try and begin to understand
She retreated back into the light, back into the dark
And I still lay there paralyzed, flames and ecstasy still in my eyes
This experience for which I’ve never had another
Now haunts me every day throughout the last 30 years
Because with every lover I’ve experienced in my life
None have ever come close to the angel from that night
